The Lisbon MBA and Turismo de Portugal have launched the Tourism Innovation Competition, which will reward the most innovative ideas that measure tourists’ behavior: Where do they go? What do they do? How much do they spend?
Competition submissions should help explain tourists’ behavior, while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge sharing in the tourism sector, encompassing the characteristics of the Lisbon MBA.
Entrants should identify innovative methods or strategies for key information collection that will help guide Tourism operators’ management and decision processes. We want measurement tools that will help us collect and analyze information such as crowdsourcing and data mining of social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), mobile devices and/or telecommunication operators. Projects in different development stages will be accepted.
The winning idea will receive a prize of €10,000 or a €18,000 scholarship for the Lisbon MBA. The other two finalists will receive €2,000 each. The three finalists will be invited to present their ideas at a conference, which will be held in Lisbon in September.
The competition is broken down into the following phases:
a) Proposal submissions from June 2 – August 31, 2015
b) Selection of three winning proposals from September 1 – September 5, 2015
c) Proposals will be presented at an international conference in Lisbon, where the winner will be announced and the prizes will be awarded on September 18.
