Popular website Trivago has released a look at the tourism market in Portugal and found that Lisbon remains the most popular Portuguese destination globally. After Lisbon, on the most visited list, comes Albufeira, Porto, Portimão and Lagos.

It’s been a busy year for awards and honors for Portuguese tourism and the biggest hotel search engine in the world analyzed some of the trends that have contributed to the strength of the Portuguese brand abroad.
The people that most visit Portugal are the Spanish, followed by British, German and French. Irish, Italian, Dutch, Belgians, Americans and Swedes came next. Based on their input, the most popular Portuguese destinations are, in this order: Lisbon, Albufeira, Porto, Portimão, Lagos, Vilamoura, Funchal, Cascais, Faro and Monte Gordo. The Algarve remains a strong draw in tourism.
Funchal and Cascais are the cities with the best hotel satisfaction. Porto, Lagos and Lisbon are right behind on the list followed by Vilamoura and Portimão. Faro Figueira da Foz, Peniche, Albufeira and Monte Gordo complete the second half of the ranking of hotel satisfaction.
