Alentejo, Portugal is USA TODAY’s Best Wine Region to Visit according to the 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards

The Alentejo, Portugal, has taken 1st place in voting for the Best Wine Region to Visit in USA TODAY’s 10Best.com Readers’ Choice travel awards.

Portugal is one of the most innovative wine countries in Europe.  The charming Alentejo region is a fast emerging wine region that is known for its vast cork oak forests, it is a rolling landscapes, not to mention its bold wines.
The USA TODAY had this to say about Alentejo:

The 10Best Readers’ Choice Award ran for 4 weeks of voting.  Rules allowed the public the right to vote online for one nominee per category, per day.Nominees for all categories were chosen by an Expert Panel and then voted into winner spots by the public, this is a win with real meaning for Alentejo.
