The Ribeira do Porto Hotel opened on February 5, 2014 and is the newest charm hotel in the city of Porto. Located near Praça da Ribeira and the Fonte Taurina Street it offers with 18 rooms and represents a total investment of 1.5 million euros. The project of the architect Ricardo Azevedo kept the original facade of the two buildings, which are connected with each other, as well as some of the original details. The Ribeira do Porto Hotel, which belongs to the cruise company Tomaz Douro, wants to attract tourists arriving to Porto for a cruise but decide to stay overnight in the city.
All 18 rooms are decorated with black and white pictures that show the city of Porto in the late XIX century. In the corridors there is more an atmosphere of reflection about the life of Oscar Wilde or Alexandre Dumas.
The Ribeira do Porto Hotel has a “Tasca Bar”, a breakfast room that will soon work like a bar as well and that will portray the ambiance of the old typical Portuguese “tascas” or tavern.
